Week 33 with Baby 2

Wednesday, December 16, 2015

How far along? 33 weeks (picture is 33 weeks and 5 days)
Weight Gain: 15 pounds
Stretch marks? no
Sleep: Mostly good. Waking up to go to the bathroom a few times a night, but that's been constant for the past couple months.
Best moment this week: We switched Birth Centers! We will now be delivering at BabyMoon Inn, and we couldn't be more excited. For several weeks we've been feeling like we just don't fit into the culture at Blossom, and we didn't like the communication style of our midwives. We toured BabyMoon on Saturday and had our first appointment this week. Everyone there is great, and everything about it reminds us of MN Birth Center where Aria was born. I was nervous to make the switch so late in the game but feel like we definitely made the right choice.
Miss anything? Holding Aria comfortably. I can only hold her for short periods of time now, and it makes me sad.
Movement: YES!
Food Cravings: no
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: no
Symptoms: Feeling good. My chiropractor and midwife confirmed Baby Girl is head down and VERY engaged, which means she could join us early.
Labor signs: more braxton hicks this week, but my midwife said not to worry. It's normal.
Belly button in or out: out
Wedding rings on or off: on
Mood: Happy and Sometimes Irritable
Looking forward to: My Dad's visit! He is coming at the end of the week for a short visit, and I can't wait to see him. I think Aria is even more excited than me though!

Week 32 with baby 2

How far along? 32 weeks (picture is 32 weeks and 4 days)

Weight Gain: 15 pounds
Stretch marks? no
Sleep: ok
Best moment this week: Aria finally feeling better! We had quite the scare over the weekend with Aria's temp rising to 102. She had her Well Visit right before Thanksgiving and had a low-grade fever the night before her appointment. She didn't have a fever the day of the appointment, so her Dr. said she should still get her immunizations. I should have gone with my "motherly intuition" and waited on the shots, because my poor baby girl got really sick the next day. My guess is the immunizations weakened her immune system and allowed the cold/flu to fully take over. She fell asleep in my arms on Thanksgiving Day, which is VERY unlike her. We woke her up every 3 hours throughout the night to monitor her fever and give her tylenol/motrin intermittently. Her fever lasted for 5 days, and she is FINALLY better this week!!! Having a sick child is heart breaking, and I feel thankful this is the most sick Aria has been!
Miss anything? wine mostly - especially since Peter, Kelsey, Jake, and Makinzie indulged on Thanksgiving
Movement: lots
Food Cravings: cheese cake
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: not really.
Symptoms: still tired from being sick. Otherwise I'm feeling pretty good with some sciatic nerve pain, but the chiropractor is helping a lot.
Labor signs:  a few braxton hicks
Belly button in or out: out
Wedding rings on or off: on
Mood: Happy
Looking forward to: belly photos next week

Week 31 with Baby 2

Saturday, November 28, 2015

How far along? 31 weeks (picture is 31 weeks and 5 days)
Stretch marks? no
Sleep: Ok. I'm quite uncomfortable from being sick. I seem to crash really hard for a few hours, wake up to pee, crash really hard, wake up to pee, and on and on.
Best moment this week: Pete has been such a comfort and help while I've been sick. I feel so fortunate to have him. He's an amazing husband and daddy!!!
Miss anything? feeling good/comfortable. I still have a cold, which I'm fairly certain has actually developed into a sinus infection. Needless to say, I've been miserable.
Movement: YES!
Food Cravings: not really
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: no
Symptoms:  I'm still having problems with my sciatic nerve. I saw the chiropractor, and the adjustment helped for approximately 12 hours... until I picked up Aria wrong. I realized I've been holding her on my right hip and jutting out my left hip, causing them to go out of alignment and pinching my sciatic nerve. Now, to figure out how to hold and cuddle my 2-year-old without hurting myself...
Labor signs: A few braxton hicks during the middle of the night.
Belly button in or out: out
Wedding rings on or off: On
Mood: Happy
Looking forward to: Thanksgiving Food!

Week 30 with Baby 2

How far along? 30 weeks
Weight Gain? 14 pounds
Stretch marks? no
Sleep: Mostly good. Waking up a few times each night.
Best moment this week: Pete went to Mexico on a company trip, and Aria and I stayed home. So, when he got home, I took a whole day off  :) It was glorious! haha. As a SAHM, I rarely never get a day off, so it was extra special. I got a pedicure, did some shopping, and went to yoga! I need to talk to Pete about taking a day off once a month. ;)
Miss anything? feeling comfortable.
Movement: Baby Girl is a mover and a shaker. She moves much more than I remember Aria moving. Either that, or she just moves differently. Baby Girl likes to kick my ribs and press on my bladder.
Food Cravings: none
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: not really
Symptoms: I've been having problems with my sciatic nerve. I had the same problem with my first pregnancy, but luckily it showed up later this time around. I'm searching out a chiropractor to help me out. Aria and I were both sick this week, which is never fun. She developed a cold first, and I got it a few days later.
Labor signs: No
Belly button in or out: out
Wedding rings on or off: On
Mood: Happy
Looking forward to: Getting adjusted by the chiro!

Week 29 with Baby 2

How far along? 29 weeks
Maternity clothes?
Stretch marks? no
Sleep: Good. Getting up to pee a few times each night.
Best moment this week: Going to prenatal yoga. I didn't realize how much I had missed yoga classes! The teacher I found is amazing, and I am really glad I bumped into her.
Miss anything? wine and sushi
Movement: Still quite a bit of movement. Little Girl had hiccups for the first time this week, and they were powerful!
Food Cravings: not really
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: the smell of garlic still grosses me out.
Symptoms: feeling great
Labor signs: No
Belly button in or out: out
Wedding rings on or off: On
Mood: Happy
Looking forward to: Working on Baby Girl's nursery this week.

Week 28 with Baby 2

How far along? 28 weeks
Maternity clothes? rocking all maternity clothes at this point
Stretch marks? no
Sleep: Pretty good. My mid-wife told me it is completely fine to sleep on my back, which has made a world of difference. I was struggling to stay on my side and was tossing and turning all night. Now with 'permission' to sleep whichever way is comfortable, I've been sleeping much better.
Best moment this week: Celebrating Aria's 2nd Birthday. On her actual birthday, we went to Out of Africa. She loved seeing the giraffes, lions, and tigers and has been talking about them non-stop. Her birthday party was a Frozen theme. We decorated the dining room and hallway with snowflakes and Frozen theme decor, so she woke up to a Winter Wonderland and was beyond excited. It was so fun to her her pure joy and excitement.
Miss anything? wine and sushi
Movement: A LOT of movement this week. One day she moved almost non-stop for 4 hours.
Food Cravings: not really
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: the smell of garlic
Symptoms: feeling mostly good
Labor signs: No
Belly button in or out: out
Wedding rings on or off: On
Mood: mostly happy
Looking forward to: Prenatal Yoga. I've been searching online for classes to go to, but wasn't able to find anything that looked worthwhile. Recently, I bumped into a woman who owns a yoga studio and teaches prenatal yoga, so I'm going to her class this week!

Week 27 with Baby 2

Monday, November 2, 2015

How far along? 27 weeks
Maternity clothes? I finally got out my maternity jeans, and they feel amazing. I forgot how comfortable they are. Kind of like wearing sweat pants, and a lot more comfortable than belly bands.
Stretch marks? no
Sleep: great! I think the cool MN weather and fresh air helped me get into a deep sleep.
Best moment this week: Aria and I visited family and friends in MN. It was a short trip, but what it lacked in length, it made up for in hugs, love, and quality time.
Miss anything? an ongoing theme, wine
Movement: Baby Girl seems to be on a pretty predictable schedule right now. She moves in the morning after I wake up and am laying in bed, mid-afternoon (3-4 ish), and at night when I'm laying in bed.
Food Cravings: not really
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: the smell of strong garlic
Symptoms: lower back pain and a varicose vein in the most inconvenient spot imaginable. I asked my mid-wife about it, and it is completely "normal" during pregnancy. Just a huge nuisance, and a serious pain.
Gender: GIRL - we are certain we know the baby's first name, and we are still trying to decide on the middle name. Although, we aren't telling anyone the first name until Baby is born.
Labor signs: No
Belly button in or out: out
Wedding rings on or off: On
Mood: Mostly happy but a bit emotional. October is a difficult month for our family, so that was to be expected.
Looking forward to: Celebrating Aria's 2nd Birthday next week!

Week 26 with Baby 2

How far along? 26 weeks
Weight gained: 10 pounds
Maternity clothes? shorts with belly band and maternity shorts and dresses.
Stretch marks? no
Sleep: mostly good
Best moment this week: We had another appointment with Blossom Birth Center. We really feel like we made the right decision with going there, and are excited to have some a caring community. The midwives/doctors/nurses are all amazing and make us feel comfortable and at home. Aria came with to our visit and got to hold the doppler while we listened to Baby's heartbeat. As soon as she touched the "wand" to my belly, Baby Girl gave it a strong kick :) It was either a greeting or a warning - either way Aria thought it was pretty cool!
Miss anything? wine
Movement: a lot on some days and not as much on others
Food Cravings: not really
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: no
Symptoms: some lower back pain
Gender: GIRL
Labor signs: No
Belly button in or out: out
Wedding rings on or off: On
Mood: Mostly happy
Looking forward to: Cool MN weather and visiting friends and family. We leave for MN tomorrow and can't wait to see everyone.

Week 25 with Baby 2

Saturday, October 17, 2015

How far along? 25 weeks
Maternity clothes? The same as before. Shorts with belly band, maternity shorts, shirts, and dresses.
Stretch marks? no
Sleep: mostly good
Best moment this week: My sister, Kelsey, is living with us in AZ and is going to watch Aria a few days a week, so I can run errands and have a little me time. This was our first week, and it has been amazing. An hour or two of ME time makes a huge difference in my day and week! I was able to get a pedicure and spray tan. It's funny to think of the things I took for granted before having kids. Now a trip to Target alone feels like a vacation.
Miss anything? wine
Movement: a lot on some days and not as much on others
Food Cravings: not really
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: no
Gender: GIRL
Labor signs: No
Belly button in or out: out
Wedding rings on or off: On
Mood: Mostly happy
Looking forward to: Pete and I celebrate our 4 year Anniversary this week!!

Week 24 with Baby 2

Wednesday, October 7, 2015

How far along? 24 weeks
Maternity clothes? maternity shirts and dresses. I can still fit into my regular shorts that are low-rise, but need to wear a belly band with everything else. I am desperately searching for maternity shorts, but since most other states in the nation are experiencing Fall weather, all shorts have been clearanced out and stores don't have my size.
Stretch marks? no
Sleep: good
Best moment this week: cool weather! It rained a couple days this week, so we finally had some relief from the heat. It has been in the 80s, and I am LOVING it!
Miss anything? wine, sushi, bleu cheese, and the ability to walk without experiencing back pain. My sacrum has been hurting for the past week or so, and I definitely need to get to a chiropractor.
Movement: still lots
Food Cravings: chocolate cake
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: no
Gender: GIRL
Labor signs: No
Belly button in or out: even
Wedding rings on or off: On
Mood: Mostly happy
Looking forward to: Aria and I are visiting family and friends in MN in a couple weeks. We are excited to see everyone, and I am personally excited for FALL weather!!! Drinking a PSL or TGL when it's 100 degrees just isn't the same.

Maternity clothes? Trying to stay cool by wearing lots of maternity dresses and messy buns
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: I've been waking up quite frequently throughout the night trying to find a comfortable position.
Best moment this week: Aria was sick for a few days early in the week and is finally back to her wild and happy self, which is such a relief! She was making me quite exhausted!
Miss anything? bleu cheese, wine. being cool and feeling thin ;)
Movement: Lots and lots. Baby girl seems to enjoy kicking my organs and bladder, which occasionally makes me nauseous.
Food Cravings: pizza and sweets
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: not really
Gender: girl

Belly button in or out: even
Wedding rings on or off: On

Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: not really
Gender: girl
Labor signs: No
Belly button in or out: even

Week 21 with Baby 2

How far along? 21 weeks
Maternity clothes? Wearing maternity shirts and belly bands.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Great
Best moment this week: Jake and Makinzie got married! The entire weekend was remarkable, and Aria was the perfect flower girl ;) And by perfect, I mean she was overly-tired and cried most of the day. Her Grandma Sharon and Grandpa Bobbie carried her down the aisle, and we let her watch Frozen during the reception to keep her occupied. She stayed until the end though and fell asleep in my arms on the dance floor about 15 minutes before the closing song.
Miss anything? wine!
Movement: Pete felt our baby girl move this week! She is getting stronger each day.
Food Cravings: no
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: not really
Gender: Girl
Belly button in or out: neither ;)
Wedding rings on or off: On

Week 20 with Baby 2

How far along? 20 weeks
Maternity clothes? Wearing maternity shirts and belly bands with jeans.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Mostly good
Best moment this week: We had our 20 week ultrasound and found out we are having another GIRL, and we couldn't be more excited! It seems her personality is a bit different from Aria's. During the ultrasound she hid her face most of the time, and when the technician pressed on my belly she kicked back. Aria was very excited to see her baby sister and talked about it all day :)
Miss anything? bleu cheese
Movement: Movement is getting stronger and more frequent
Food Cravings: not really
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: not really
Gender: Girl
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding rings on or off: On
Mood: Irritated

Week 19 with Baby 2

Tuesday, September 1, 2015

How far along? 19 weeks
Maternity clothes? Wearing maternity shirts and just started wearing my belly bands.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: OK. I think I would be sleeping great, but Aria and I are staying at my dad's and I'm in a twin bed. The twin bed isn't the problem though. Harley believes he MUST sleep with me. He starts out in the arm chair near me, but tries to sneak into my bed several times throughout the night. He's a great cuddler... too great, and he traps my legs causing me to sleep wonky. I wake up with a stiff back, kick him out of bed, and the process starts again a few hours later.
Best moment this week: Aria and I are spending this week and next at my dad's. It has been really nice to spend quality time with him before we head to AZ for the next 8 months.
Miss anything? wine
Movement: The feeling of movement is getting stronger.
Food Cravings: fruit
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: not really
Have you started to show yet: Yes, more so than you can see in the picture. My belly really popped this week, but I'm certain the angle of the camera doesn't allow for a proper visual.
Gender Prediction: boy? girl? I have NO idea.
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding rings on or off: On
Mood: Mostly happy with a side of extreme irritation
Looking forward to: Seeing Pete on Sunday and finding out our baby's gender on Tuesday.

Maternity clothes? I have been wearing a few maternity shirts and have started using the hair tie trick on my jeans.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Mostly good
Best moment this week: Aria came with to my prenatal appointment and got to hear Baby's heartbeat. She was very excited and talked about "baby's heart" all day.
I'm also grateful to have more energy this week. The cooler weather definitely helps!
Miss anything? red wine
Movement: Lots of tiny movements. My midwife said the placenta is likely posterior because it isn't highly common to feel movement this soon.
Food Cravings: Meat. If you know me at all, you know this is VERY unlike me.
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: not really
Have you started to show yet: Yes
Gender Prediction: Still completely unsure. One moment I think girl and the next I think boy.
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding rings on or off: On
Mood: Mostly happy
Looking forward to: Finding out our baby's gender. Two weeks!

Week 17 with Baby 2

Tuesday, August 18, 2015

How far along? 17 weeks
Maternity clothes? I have been wearing a few maternity shirts, and I always need to unbutton my jeans while sitting.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Great with lots of dreams.
Best moment this week: Feeling baby move while reading Aria her bedtime stories :)
Miss anything? Energy. I'm still feeling pretty tired and am going to ask my midwife to test my iron levels on Friday during my prenatal appointment.
Movement: I'm feeling lots of tiny movements!
Food Cravings: Fruit
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: not really
Have you started to show yet: Yes
Gender Prediction: I had a dream this week that I was pregnant with a girl. In the dream, my Grandma Whitcomb told me the baby's middle name should be Kathryn. That was my great-grandma's name and was also the name of my cousin who passed away earlier this year.
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding rings on or off: On
Mood: Mostly happy
Looking forward to: My next prenatal visit on Friday.

Week 16 with Baby S #2

Thursday, August 13, 2015

How far along? 16 weeks
Maternity clothes? Not yet. I usually need to unbutton my jeans while sitting.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Still waking up 1-2 times per night.
Best moment this week: Aria visited her Grandma and Grandpa S for a long weekend, and I traveled to NC to visit Pete. We went to Myrtle Beach and had a great time together! We played mini golf, rented a moped, and spent lots of time on the beach. One of the best moments was when Pete put his hand on my belly and talked to baby. There was lots of movement, and I'm certain he/she was saying hi to Daddy!
Miss anything? Energy. I feel more tired this pregnancy than with Aria. I'm fairly certain I'm dehydrated though.
Movement: I'm feeling lots of tiny movements!
Food Cravings: not really - I was ravenous first trimester and my hunger is dying down. I haven't really been in the mood for much.
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: not really
Have you started to show yet: More and more each day
Gender Prediction: Pete and I are torn now. We thought we were having a boy, but while I was visiting him in Raleigh, one of his team members reminded us that Pete had a "psychic" customer while selling preseason in Las Vegas. This was before we were pregnant.

Peter was training a new intern, Evan, for the day. The "psychic" conversation started when Pete asked the woman her birthday. July 11th. The same as Pete's, and the same as Evan's! They all laughed and joked at the coincidence, and the "psychic" woman proceeded to tell Evan to make sure he spends time with his grandma, because she was going to need his help. The next day, Evan's Grandma broke her wrist. Overall the conversation seemed surreal. Shortly thereafter, the "psychic" woman told Pete that I'd be pregnant with a girl within the year. We both blew it off and thought it was unlikely. We weren't planning to have another baby until next year. Now that we ARE pregnant and due due within a year of her prediction, we can't help but think this baby is a girl...

Labor signs: No
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding rings on or off: On
Mood: Mostly happy
Looking forward to: Pete coming home in September. He's been away most of the Summer, and we're all ready for his selling season to be done! Less than one month and we'll be together!!!

Week 15 with Baby S #2

Tuesday, August 4, 2015

How far along? 15 weeks
Total weight gain/loss? 2.5 pounds
Maternity clothes? Not yet. I occasionally need to unbutton my jeans while sitting.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Still waking up 1-2 times per night to pee.
Best moment this week: Aria is talking more and more every day. This week she said, "Mommy, watch a movie!" after her Uncle Jake turned on the tv. This is hilarious to me, because she only gets to watch tv/movies if we're flying or if she's really sick.
Miss anything? white wine
Movement: I feel tiny movements at night before bed. I chase Aria around all day, so bedtime is the only time of day I'm still.
Food Cravings: Fruit, Sweets
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: not really
Have you started to show yet: Yes. I can tell a huge difference, but I'm fairly certain acquaintances and strangers can't tell.
Gender Prediction: Pete and I still think we are having a boy.
Labor signs: No
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding rings on or off: On
Mood: Mostly happy
Looking forward to: Visiting Pete in Raleigh this week and having a mini vacation.

Week 14 with Baby Swenson #2

Total weight gain/loss? 2.5 pounds
Maternity clothes? Not yet. I have been wearing loose fitting shirts for several weeks though.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Waking up 1-2 times per night to pee.
Best moment this week: Hearing baby's heartbeat at our prenatal appointment! BMP was 158. Fast! If the old wives tale is true, this baby will be a girl...
Miss anything? I miss wine a lot, but I miss having energy even more. It has been super hot the past couple weeks, and the heat has made me dizzy/lightheaded which is really exhausting.
Movement: Starting to feel tiny blips at night.
Food Cravings: Bread
Food Aversions/anything making you queasy: Veggies
Have you started to show yet: Yes. I started to show much sooner with this pregnancy than with Aria.
Gender Prediction: Pete and I both think we are having a boy. Aria says boy-girl??
Labor signs: No
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding rings on or off: On
Mood: Mostly happy and a bit emotional from time to time.
Looking forward to: finding out if we're having a boy or girl
